{my new office in our new humble abode}
I can’t believe it’s been since the end of October that I have written on my blog. I’ve certainly missed it, and so much has changed since then. To start, I stopped shopping for clothes. GASP. It’s true. I had a ‘come of Jesus’ in the beginning of November. How? Well, it was easy and definitely unexpected. I was shopping for god knows what at the Goodwill, when I became overwhelmed with sadness. I was dumping all my paychecks into meaningless (don’t hurt me) items of clothing and accessories that were cluttering up my closet and office. So I did what all people with an addiction do, have an intervention. I told myself that I would stop spending and start saving for something meaningful.
The Holidays were approaching us and being the impulsive person that I am, I rolled over in bed that night and said to Adrian, ‘We should buy a house.’ He smirked, and said OK. But then the realistic side of him came out and he said, ‘We don’t have enough money.’ Which was true.
I was dumping loads of money into thrift store stuff because I thought I was catching a good deal. So I replied and said, ‘I’ll sell everything.’ He laughed. But I was serious. It broke my heart to sell my first LV, white Chanel flap bag, the other LVs, Burberry’s, Tory’s, etc. but I did it. Everything was going w/in two weeks, we saved every single penny we earned, stopped taking money out of our savings and made arrangements to meet with what turned out to be the most perfect realtor to find a house (who is now my new BFF). And sure enough, we found a house w/in 6 weeks.
And in the third week of December we took all the money we saved up and bought our first house! It’s funny how things can change literally over night. Prioritizing really helped us achieve our goal of becoming homeowners, and I sincerely hope that this new found ‘saver’ in me can continue this feel-good attitude throughout 2013. But let’s be honest, even though my love for thrifty clothes may be gone, I will find a few extra dollars a month to shop for thrifty home decor items. So stay posted as I share how we decorate our new house on a budget. But I can assure you, I will not shop 3-4 times a week like I did in 2012! I just promise! XO

Hey there! Came across this post on facebook and decided to read because I’m trying to keep up with what everyone’s upto. I’m proud that you’re happy with your decision and lovin’ the new life
I’d love to see any decorating posts. (Honestly, that’s what I think I’m going to be a fanatic about when I decide it’s time to buy a house) Instead I have to live my pre-decorating days through pinterest <3
So glad you are back and it sounds like things are going great!!!!
Thanks Amber!
